Curriculum Planning

The high school years are a critical time in a student's life. Getting off on the right foot will help alleviate stress as you progress in high school. The earlier you start, the better. At this stage, we will:

Discuss the strengths of your school's Academic Profile and how it affects you

Choose courses that will be challenging and enriching

Provide advice on how to access Honors and AP courses when classes are limited

Discuss possible career goals and how they relate to course selection

Insure class load reflects requirements necessary for admission to choice schools

Academic Advising

Students need to begin developing themselves as well-rounded students. This means making good grades, scoreing well on tests, developing leadership skills and participating in extracurricular activities. We will:

Review academic progress, as well as class standing and develop a plan for improving areas that may need strengthening

Review standardized test scores and make recommendations for additional testing and test prep, if necessary

Discuss time-management, study skills, and how to balance academics and activities

Suggest extracurricular activities that are in line with your interests and showcase your talent

Discuss leadership potential and opportunities that exist in your school and community

Discuss summer activities and outside enrichment

Application Process

Each step of the application is a chance to showcase your uniqueness and talents. At this stage, we will:

Develop a list of schools that fit your academic profile and future goals

Discuss the potential for Early Decision/ or Early Application

Develop a "brag" sheet that highlights your activities, honors and awards

Develop a plan to meet all application deadlines

Determine process for Financial Aid and Merit Scholarships

Review all parts of the application before submission
